About Me

Inspired by Quincy from The Little Einsteins, Lucas decided to pursue the flute at a young age but was initially dissuaded due to his youth, leading him to begin his musical journey with the drums on the advice of a music store clerk. Undeterred, Lucas eventually transitioned to the flute at the age of 10 and embarked on a journey that would shape his future.

Lucas is currently completing his Bachelor of Music Performance at the University of North Florida. While there, he serves as the principal flutist of the UNF Symphony and performs with the UNF Flute Ensemble.

As a devout Christian, Lucas serves as a church musician at South Point Baptist Church. He frequently performs at local nursing homes, sharing live music and introducing residents to modern repertoire. As the winner of the John Leatherwood Concerto Competition, the St. Augustine Young Artist Competition, the University of North Florida Concerto Competition, the College Young Artist Competition at the Florida Flute Association, and the Young Artist Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestra Competition, Lucas continues to expand his artistic reach in both solo and collaborative settings.

Beyond performance, Lucas is the founder and president of FLUTES4KIDS; a nonprofit in Jacksonville aimed at providing scholarships, performance and educational opportunities for young flutists. FLUTES4KIDS INC. has commissioned composers like Nicole Chamberlain to create modern music with 21st-century techniques.

While at North Florida he studies with Gia Sastre and studies privately with Les Roettges and Sophia Jean. He received his high school diploma with music endorsement from Calvary Christian Academy while studying with Karen Fuller privately. He also studied conducting privately with Dr. Steven Moore.
